Department of English came into existence right from the establishment of the college in 1963. The department looks after the English language class of B.Sc, B.Com, B.A., B.Hsc., BCA and the English Literature classes of B.A. Since the beginning there is only one post sanctioned for the department From 2012 onwards JBS has been kind enough to appoint a teacher in the department. Earlier Mr. Pannicker served the English department as HOD. .
M.A. English Literature has been introduced in the session 2020-21 with 20 Seats. In the session 2020-21 one more post has been sanctioned with M.A. English Class

A Value Added Course was conducted from 09-10-2021 to 30-10-2021 jointly with psychology department. The Course was for 30 hours spread in 15 working days. The value added course was on “Improve Your Mental Health With Easy Therapies.” Most of the post graduate students of the college Participated in course and awarded Certificates & Mark sheet.
